Well, the reason I said that is because it works as expected in git head:
./xrootd --version
130612 07:42:51 17035 XrdConfig: parameter not specified.
Usage: [-b] [-c <cfn>] [-d] [-k {n|sz}] [-l <fn>] [-L] [-n name] [-p <port>] [-P <prot>] [-s pidfile] [-S site] [<prot_options>]

./xrdcp --version
