Hi,

I have set up a small xrootd cluster (2 server nodes, one
redirctor/inventory(cns) node) to evaluate it and see whether it can
be used within our project. So far everything was smooth, however I
have several questions:

- What is the recommended client library to use? There is XrdCl,
XrdClient, and XrdPosix. What's the difference between these? I am
leaning towards XrdPosix because it would require minimal (or
hopefully none at all) modifications of the existing codebase. Is
there anything I should be worried about (missing features,
incompatibilities with standard POSIX system calls)? Does fctnl
implementation support file locking (or byte range locking)?

- Are there instructions on how one can set up an xrootd cluster in a
highly-available mode? The cluster should be able to tolerate a loss
of a node(s). Is full file replication the only way to achieve it by
means of xrootd? Shall I use EOS for that?

- For Java clients needing to interact with xrootd would you recommend
using xrootd4j or just make it transparent by using FUSE, parrot or
XrdPosix?

Thanks in advance for you help!

Cheers,
Artem.
