I see a similiar issue with 'xrd' being extremly slow and 'xrdfs' fast: [root@eosdevsrv1 ~]# time xrdfs eospps.cern.ch ls -l /eos/ => lists 22 entries real 0m0.142s user 0m0.120s sys 0m0.014s [root@eosdevsrv1 ~]# time xrd eospps.cern.ch ls /eos/ => lists 22 entries real 0m4.193s user 0m0.131s sys 0m0.011s Same happens with a native xrootd listing /tmp/ on a close remote machine => 4s ...
