Also, you should get the SVN copy of parent/pom.xml which has the 1.7 source target in it.  So disregard the previous instructions about commenting it out.

Hi,

You need a properly configured Java 1.7 compiler to build and run the software.

On OSX, this can be a bit confusing.  You may have installed Java 1.7 but the default system copy of Java 1.6 is still found by Maven.

You should be able to setup the JAVA_HOME variable in your environment in order to fix this problem:

export JAVA_HOME=$(/usr/libexec/java_home -v 1.7)

On my Mac, this resolves to the following:

/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_09.jdk/Contents/Home

The exact directory will depend on which JDK version you have installed.

If you do not have Java 1.7 at all, then go here:

http://java.com/en/download/mac_download.jsp?locale=en

Install the DMG file and then setup your environment as above…then it should work.

Hi Jeremy,
I commented the lines as you suggested and the installation went through, but when testing the installation with the command suggested on the WIKI
java -jar ./distribution/hps-distribution-3.0-SNAPSHOT-bin.jar
(by the way, the jar file is in the "target" folder under distribution) I get the errors you can see in the attached screenshot.
How can we fix it?
Many thanks
