Yes, it looks like a regression. This was making the Castor instance inaccessible via xroot within seconds after we tried restarting, which was quite an issue considering the load (~250 file opens/s). We have worked around it on Thursday by making the thread scheduler always use a fixed number of threads and things seem stable now.
