No, this hasn't been done. The 'seteuid' calls are removed but now it requires modification of the permissions.
We would gain from the fact to run with seteuid(0) but setfsuid(!=0) and it would also allow to use directly the host keys without the need to copy the host certificates and/or change the permissions. If the effective uid is 0 we can temporarily change the ID in one of the xrootd threads without doing any harm.
