Hello, Recently, there were some runtime performance problems reported to me about recent SLIC versions. The events were taking about 10x longer to process than in a "known good" installation at JLab. I fixed this bug today, which was a silly error made on my part while reorganizing the classes and code of LCDD. I have added a new configuration containing this bug fix to ilcinstall. To build it, you can execute the following: cd /path/to/my/ilcinstall/ python ilcsoft-install -i ./examples/slic/hps-scratch.cfg Before doing this, you need to edit the ilcsoft_install_prefix path in examples/slic/hps-versions.py so that it makes sense for your system, like usual. I have tested this executable with the following command: time slic -g HPS-Proposal2014-v5-2pt2.lcdd -i ./stdhep/egs_tri_2.2gev_0.00125x0_200na_5e5b_30mr_001.stdhep -r 1000 For those 1000 events, I get the following performance figures: real 0m4.102s user 0m4.004s sys 0m0.049s Due to some small improvements I made to LCDD, as well as the previously mentioned bug fix, I believe this is actually slightly better runtime performance than in the old release. Let me know if you have any questions. --Jeremy ######################################################################## Use REPLY-ALL to reply to list To unsubscribe from the HPS-SOFTWARE list, click the following link: https://listserv.slac.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=HPS-SOFTWARE&A=1
