Thanks Sho.
Now it gives another error, see attachment.
Anyway, just to be clear, when should I use the -r flag?

Looks like you are actually doing "-r /home/Luca/path/to/steering/file" which will not work. Don't use "-r" if you're using a file path to the steering file.
In more detail:
"-r /org/hps/steering/readout/HPS2014ReadoutToLcio.lcsim" works because that's a resource path - it specifies a file that's compiled into the .jar.
"/home/Luca/.../org/hps/steering/readout/HPS2014ReadoutToLcio.lcsim"
works because that's a file path.

Hello,
after last crashed I reinstalled from scratch , the build was ok. To test I tried
java -jar hps-distribution.jar -r /org/hps/steering/readout/HPS2014ReadoutToLcio.lcsim -i in.slcio -DoutputFile=readout
(I've used the right pat to the right files, of course) using a file downloaded here (http://www.slac.stanford.edu/~meeg/hps2/hps_data/lcio/prop-v3/e2.2gev/beam/)
and i got the error you can see in the attached screenshot.
Don't know what to do....Any suggestion?
Many thanks
L.
