Unfortunately, we will not be able to have beer on Friday. After receiving tacit approval a month ago, my formal request to the director's office apparently led to some reexamination of the SLAC alcohol policy. The intent of the policy, it seems, was to allow alcohol only at official SLAC functions only (ie. SLAC-hosted conferences, seminars, and other scientific events).
