Shoot - hit 'comment' too early. See how the second example returns to epoll after reading the partial header.

I couldn't find any case where the client returned to epoll and caused the "invalid argument"; nor could I find a case where the client didn't return to epoll and was successful. However, don't take this as a smoking gun - probably not enough sample size.
