 Nice work!
 The silicon wafer is modeled as a square the same size as the tungsten
plates, so there will be hits in the sensitive layer which lie outside the
active pixel areas. I believe those are the hits which return -1, although
I have not tested that explicitly.

Here is the first shot I have of outfile.slcio converted to a kpixdata .bin file and read into JAS3. I ignored hits that listed -1 as the channel, or > 8 for the layer.
