On "freeze date" I am planning to create a 12.04 branch and will be stabilizing things there. Any fixes necessary to stabilize the release will go there. Eventually that branch will be tagged and used for 12.04 release. Any fixes done there will be cherry-picked and put into the master. So everyone can work with master and push new code there any time, but it won't make it into 12.04 if you push it after the freeze date. Sounds reasonable?
