Thanks.  The ‘java’ and ‘javac’ from there seem to be executable.

We require JDK 1.7 so I’ll open a help ticket about getting that installed.

Is it by design that our group area can’t be accessed from the jlabl machines?  (seemingly)

Hello Jeremy,

Just found that the highest level "installed" jdk is 1.6:

jlabl1:~> /apps/java/jdk1.6.0_03/bin/javac -version
javac 1.6.0_03

It might not be so bad to ask CC to instal a 1.7 JDK there.

Best,
Maurik

Except I apparently can’t use this installation from my account…

[270 $] /u/group/hps/hps_soft/java/jdk1.7.0_45//bin/java

Okay, so I found this JDK from jlabl1 in our group area

/u/group/hps/hps_soft/java/jdk1.7.0_45/

But shouldn’t we be using a standard installation maintained by the JLAB admins?

Hi,

I’m having an interesting time trying to build HPS Java on a JLAB machine using Java and Maven.

I try from ifarm where I find a 1.7 JDK in /usr but….

There is no internet access to any of the Maven repositories!  (Everything outbound seems to be firewalled from there.)

So I try from jlabl1 where internet seems fine but there is no JDK installed under /usr so no javac is found to compile the modules.

Fun.

Anyone have any tips for doing this?  (Our page on the Confluence seems to lack some detail here.)

Thanks.
