Ok Thanks Yvan,

I think gcc would be mostly used on the build nodes.
But I'm not sure that we can safely run a binary built on SL7 on a SL6 box:
one obvious issue is that the symbols of the system shared libraries may 
differ
between the two distributions.

So it would be fine to have SL7 on all the nodes, if possible.
