I also want to point out that 3.3.6 was a bit strict in enforcing the 
stated limit (gees, I wish we never let people specify the maxt option). 
The latest version of xrootd tries to adhere to the nproc limit rather to 
the (perhaps) lower limit. In any case, should you find an xrootd server 
dead out of the water because you see "thread limit reached" message we 
really want to get a core file of that. We have an open ticket on this 
and, so far, it appears to be a bug in the glibc threading package but we 
want to make sure of that. So, please, when you see that get a gcore of 
the server (and give us access to it) before restarting!
