ok...
actually, I don't see many other choices. The only thing I did this 
morning was to recompile my hps-java, as I had to continue my tests with some 
different geometries.
So, from now on, if I understood your messages correctly, all I have to do is 
not to set ConditionsDriver in my steering file, right? so that the run 
number is not set, and the reconstruction reads directly my compact.xml
(which is different in each test I perform), and does not read the geometry
from the db. Right?
Let me try, I'll let you know if it works... (in the meanwhile I'm copying 
the readout file at slac, but it's taking some time).
