Once the initial open succeeds and the file is opened for writing the recovery procedure will run only against the disk server that served the initial open. This is because it makes semantically little sense to update different replicas as they will end up inconsistent with none of them being right. I don't remember what exactly happens when the first open fails, but likely it's the standard message recovery which will retry at the redirector if any was encountered.
