Dear SiD members, As you may have already heard, the SiD Exec committee has appointed a task force to look into the baseline technology for the HCAL. As you know, we currently have a RPC-based DHCAL as the technological baseline and the committee was charged to consider a change of the baseline technology to a scintillator-based AHCAL. The findings of the task force were presented today at the SiD collaboration meeting. Please find the presentation and the report attached. We now invite everybody to read the findings of the task force. Please send your comments till November 20th, 2015 to the Spokes people and Jim Brau as the chair of the task force. The Exec will then act based on the recommendations of the task force and the comments received. We would like to note, that this is not a down-selection of technology, but a change in our current baseline.
