If I want to access parameters set in the ecal geometry from within hps-java.

Specifically, cluster energy corrections depend on a distance to the edge. The bottom edge of the crystals is specified in the ecal geometry compact.xml in the variables such as BEAMGAPTOP. How could I access this value in ClusterUtilities, store this value, and use it in my calculations for distance to edge?
