I think Mattias already pushed it as a patch to EPEL so it's better to be in sync.
As you mentioned in #313 the original semaphore bug seems to be fixed in glibc 2.21 (https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=12674) which is already available in f22, so I think in 4.3.0 we can go back to the posix semaphores for f22 and f23, and for older platforms reorder the two statements back in order to avoid the race condition.
