Ciao, not sure it is the proper forum to ask for dcache/xrootd problems, but let me try in case anyone has an idea.

Since a few days in Rome xrootd server fail randomly with

[b] XrdCl::File::Open(name='root://cms-xrd-global.cern.ch//store/test/xrootd/T2_IT_Rome/store/mc/SAM/GenericTTbar/GEN-SIM-RECO/CMSSW_5_3_1_START53_V5-v1/0013/CE4D66EB-5AAE-E111-96D6-003048D37524.root', flags=0x10, permissions=0660) => error '[ERROR] Server responded with an error: [3012] Failed to open file (General problem: No free port within range [666])

the redirection reaches the proper Rome host, but the fails with this strange error, for which google does not seem to help. Then, again randomly, it starts working again.

Any similar experience?

thanks a lot

tom
