@ljanyst : I finally had a moment to check and you're right, merging the stable back to master messes up the history So I would say we add a switch to the ./makesrpm.sh script so the default versioning schema can be replaced by whatever the user provides + I will add a bi-weekly build to jenkins that generates RPMs for testers, with a versioning schema like: xrootd-4.6.2-0.experimental.91.c41d4c13 .
