SLAC friends,

I am planning to propose on a Phase I STTR, and need a university teammate capable of optimizing a linear motor as part of the work.  It would be most helpful if they use the ‘ANSYS Maxwell’ analysis tool.  The motor is relatively straightforward, just 1 or 2 permanent magnets, 1 or 2 motor coils, and some Vanadium Permendur.

I don’t know if official SLAC work constitutes ‘university’ but I suspect not, but please pass this on to anyone you know at a university who might be interested.

The Phase I of the STTR is pretty small, probably just $20-25K for the university, for paper studies only.  But Phase II could be $200K, and any success in Phase I could spur Lockheed Martin to fund hardware tests, even if Phase II isn’t awarded.

Thanks, and sorry to Spam the newsletter.
