OK, after a careful examination I can see that your problem is quite different than the one in #625 Actually in your case the IPv6 address is garbage from the the client point of view: ``` [2018-01-12 16:54:34.312329 +0000][Error ][AsyncSock ] [hcc-marian.unl.edu:1094 #0.0] Unable to initiate the connection: [ERROR] Socket error: Network is unreachable [2018-01-12 16:54:34.312337 +0000][Error ][XRootD ] [hcc-marian.unl.edu:1094] Unable to send the message kXR_open (file: /tmp/test.1M, mode: 00, flags: kXR_open_read kXR_async kXR_retstat ): [FATAL] Socket error: Network is unreachable ``` Currently, this is considered by XRootD client as a fatal and unrecoverable error, it has nothing to do with the Connection Window. I'll provide a complementary patch. BTW I tried running: xrdcp -d 3 -f root://hcc-marian.unl.edu//tmp/test.1M /dev/null and now it works just fine, so I suppose you guys have fixed your setup, could you undo the fix so I can test the patch?
