Sorry, this happened over a month ago, and the VM in question (lxplus108) has since been destroyed (which is normal procedure, not indication of some major issue with it) - we also have no detailed (and easily accessible) monitoring. However, these machines run with heuristic overcommit (`/proc/sys/vm/overcommit_memory = 0`) and no `ulimit` on memory, so would not expect a `malloc()` - with reasonable size - to fail.
