Hi all,

I just want to rectify Gianluca's statement above. There are indeed designated fixed times for the various sports that are allowed to be played within the basketball court. For example, Badminton designated times are daily beginning at 4:30pm and onwards. However, most of us don't show up to play 'til after 5pm and will usually end it by ~7:30pm as mentioned by Gianluca. There are the occasional few non-regulars who show up to play late into the evening for the net should still be out in the court through the night. The only (non-formal) exception nowadays is on Tuesday nights when a big contingent of basketball players have suddenly emerged on the court. They're mostly personnel from the Zoox private Co. and in the spirit of camaraderie we've been kind enough to accommodate their exercise needs as we often end by ~7:15pm on such days only.

Cheers,
-Ricardo Kau

Hello Umanath!
My personal welcome to SLAC and to this mailing list!

The "badminton group", as far as I am aware, is not a formal group: people use this mailing list mostly to check day by day if anybody is going to play, and when.
In general, usually somebody is playing around 5:30 pm, or a bit earlier, on Monday to Thursday, and one court is already set up by that time -- if not, we set it up ourselves or ask the gymnasium attendant. Players usually fade out by 7:30 pm or earlier.
There are sometimes many basketball playing people, in which case we have to share the court with them.

I think that in principle there are no fixed times for badminton playing in the gymnasium and you probably can go any time, but I would check that with the attendant.
