Well, just a thought : would be possible for the query requests (or even for metadata) to set the thread to SCHED_FIFO? (i am assuming that right now the threads are SCHED_OTHER)
I am not sure if you can determine what command create the socket and the corresponding thread but you could elevate the thread priority afterwards (maybe like in this link? Does it make sense?
