I've ported:
8d3c259 [XrdCl] Enhance logging for BNL issue.
this should help with understanding the problem we are seeing at BNL and the one @osschar reported.
@osschar : could you try running with my latest commit and enable logging with debug level, we should see then in the logs the full story of the MsgHandler object. Regarding the Socket Error that's in line with what we've seen at BNL and also in EOS, indeed it seems it triggers the error condition. You could try using tcpkill to kill the connection when running valgrind.
