The CTA crash may have been already fixed in R 4.10, specifically with these patches:

fd8edfd Close loophole between internal "provision" and Finished() calls.
828f0c7 Avoid race condition between Finish() and SetResponse().

Which were added to the head within the last three months. Could you check?
