@simonmichal : well, thank you for looking into it :) This particular target has indeed some random failures of the "Too many attempts..." sort (now it works again for me), but the "Internal error processing file" is the troubling one. Removing the "--tpc only" flag yields a successful transfer (albeit through the client machine), so the separate operations are fine, client seems to authenticate just fine to both, just the TPC mechanism is not working as expected.
