I think the default security extractor doesn't support proxies. For OSG, we use the xrootd-lcmaps package to handle the various GSI extensions.

I believe @ffurano maintains xrdhttpvoms (https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=964948) if you want something simpler that has GSI support. The homepage is here: https://gitlab.cern.ch/lcgdm/xrdhttpvoms; not sure if there's a separate documentation page somewhere.
