The Python bindings can be installed with pip using `pip install xrootd`.

But then, the installed package is named 'pyxrootd':
<pre>
$ pip show xrootd
WARNING: Package(s) not found: xrootd
</pre>

<pre>
$ pip show pyxrootd
Name: pyxrootd
Version: 4.11.0
Summary: None
Home-page: None
Author: None
Author-email: None
License: None
Location: /usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages
Requires:
Required-by:
</pre>
This inconsistency is causing issue when managing the package with a configuration management tool because it thinks the package is not installed although it is.
