Anything special about this client? Are they hitting the host with a large level of concurrency (meaning we should look at threading issues) or malformed requests (meaning we should look at the protocol compliance)?

It's not clear from your original message - is a crash triggered every time that the scan is run (i.e., does the scan run daily and xrootd crash weekly?)?
