How's the John team?

Seriously, a lot of people really enjoy it, it's fun but casual, and a lot of people I've talked to have played in it a long time.

I think the teams can be a bit of a mixed bag—players can have different expectations, and everything used to be self-managed (that is, no team manager assigned up front for each team and who showed up each week was a little iffy). So it wasn't quite right for me, or vice versa.

I'm very sorry they insist I have a real business reason, as opposed to just a badge. (not that they'd be able to tell, but I think honoring the spirit is the right thing here.) I look forward to coming back when the moratorium is lifted.

You would be perfect for the league, based on a story from one of the Friday evening soccer regulars. For the sake of team balance, PAASL used to (maybe still does) forms teams from the pool of players, rather than having entire teams join together. My Friday evening friend was on the committee that divided up the teams, and one year they created an entire team composed entirely of guys named Mike.

Many of the Friday guys have played in the league. I can ask tomorrow whether the league is enjoyable, and how competitive it is.

😫 That's a bummer, but thanks for letting us know, Paul!

In other news, has anyone played in the Palo Alto Adult Soccer League<http://www.paasl.org/build.cfm?root=template.cfm&CONTENT=main.cfm> before? I was considering signing up and would be interested to hear if anyone has any experience there. And if anyone is interested, registration is open now for PA residents (which I am not) and opens March 31 for everyone!

Simon, point of clarification: can visitors still play soccer on the field? Just not use the facility? Or is this a site-wide restriction on visitors? I know I’ll get that question…

Thanks,
Paul
