OK, the issue has nothing to do with XRootD but completely due to faulty code in XrdMacaroons.cc. The 4.11.x versions rely on a backdoor method to load the authorization plugin and do it badly. They never check for any failures and happily return success as long as they can handle Macaroons. The code has been largely rewritten in R5 to use the standard plugin handling that does check for failures and so this should not have happened. I think BB should revisit the old code and correct this. It all starts to go south in XrdMacaroons.cc:66. I'll leave this open until a patch for that plugin is available. Can you all bring this to BB's attention?
