@simonmichal Thanks, that looks like a bug on the XRootD end...
For comparison, it seems xrdfs ls issues kXR_locate to the manager and then contacts all the separate nodes (eight on our case) one by one, retrieving kXR_dirlist from each of them (and then probably merging / unifying the lists locally). So it never contacts the manager with xKR_dirlist, which explains why it does not show this issue.
