For direct streaming / (1) - so what you are asking is that the client contacts the server on (public) interface A (and not private interface B!) but then download all the files over private interface B? I suppose that a routing / encapsulation-based approach is not feasible?

For TPC / (2) - how does this work for GridFTP? IIUC, this would cause GridFTP to always route data over the private interface (regardless of who the Caltech GridFTP server is talking with). Is that acceptable?
