Common, you asked for an extractor to extract VOMS stuff and there was no VOMS stuff to extract. The extractor should fail. It would be the complete antithesis of security of it did not! It's up to the caller to either ignore the failure or not. But let me tell you that all you are doing is postponing the failure until authorization occurs. So what! Security tells you to fail earlier than later. If you don't expect a VOMS certificate than you should not have used a VOMS extractor. If you don't care, then ignore the error. If you do, it's likely security will shut you down.
