Since there is a RC for 4.12.4, I think that a few fixes should be cherry picked from master.
Maybe there are more? This PR has the to me most obvious ones.
I'm not 100% sure of the first one (Correct userid sanitization code). The reason for adding it was mainly to have less conflicts when cherry picking the following one.
