Two thoughts come to mind:
- This seems to assume that we can perform
stat(). I suppose we can do a DAC override and just hit everything as UID 0 (downside is this causes errors in recent Fedoras and would not work over NFS in root squash mode).
- It does have the side-effect of doubling the number of metadata ops.
