@bbockelm well, i have no idea .. but 2 things to note and keep in mind is that the the xrootd part works (both receive the same envelope it's just in the http protocol the envelope must be encoded) and the EOS that have xrootd 4.12.3 (the same version) it works .. so that means that eos decoding of envelope (or passing) is better that the xrootd vanilla
At this moment i'm in the middle of packaging (recompile) the ALICE xrootd plugins for xrootd5 to be able to upgrade a server to 5 and see how it works..
