Indeed, the change in R5.0.0 broke backward compatibility for the HDFS plugin. I have pushed a fix that preserves the intended features but still provides backward compatibility. However, I have no way of testing whether it actually solves the problem as I don't have any kind of specialized Oss plugin that can be used to test this. Unfortunately, that means it will need to be tested with a source build from git head. This patch will appear in R5.1.0 coming out in a matter of a week. I can also provide an override config option that should also solve the problem (this actually would work for all 5.x releases). It's undocumented because we added it just in case we broke something but we didn't expect it would ever be needed; hence, undocumented. I'd rather not employ it as it does mean a config file change. It's a solution of last resort.

So, I am leaving this ticket open but we really need to know it this solves the problem ASAP. R5.1.0 is scheduled for release and we really have, at this point, no way of significantly altering that schedule. So, testing it in the next couple of days would be *immensely* appreciated. Sorry for the pressure but we're all under pressure now.
