Thanks, Michal.  I thought I remembered some discussion of this.

I'm not sure I understand why the connection (TCP-1) which does the open (which is the one which passes path and opaque data to our TPC client) doesn't also do the checksum query.

And as far as we are concerned, we do not support (never have) multiple sessions using bind.   

So I presume that the only solution to this problem is for us somehow to support arbitrary queries for checksums on pools.  Currently I do not know what the security implications of this are.
