Even in case of `xrdcp` we are issuing a `kXR_stat` request ahead of using the `CopyProcess` (the component that encapsulates the transfer logic), which opens a physical connection that is NOT TPC specific (and there's even more chance of a scenario like that in case of experiments' frameworks).
