@adriansev - one clarification: I was able to solve the installation via alibuild via commenting that debian specific line. I'm not sure that would resolve the installation via pip that I report here. My guess on this issue is that it has something to with the line:
```
/software/rehlers/dev/xjalienfs/venv/bin/python3: can't open file '/tmp/pip-install-_zvy0t_c/xrootd_ae7f16909ee34fb48fb654493faf3655/xrootdbuild/src/setup.py': [Errno 2] No such file or directory
```
but I'm not terribly confident here
