@simonmichal for reproduction are you using the workflow described here #1585 (comment)?

I'll open PRs for these, but my (maybe wrong hunch) might be related to the fact that the naming scheme that you currently use violates PEP 440 (I have fixes for that already on my fork, but want to step through things in PRs so it is easy to understand when/why things might cause problems like this).
