@matthewfeickert : sight, I tested #1585 and I went through the code of #1586 a total mix up, I will give it another try tomorrow

Regarding the CI, we run our builds in: https://gitlab.cern.ch/dss/xrootd/-/pipelines

We currently don't have a build that handles PR, we used to use Travis for this purpose but this has been discontinued.
