@rob-c : since your problem concerns CC7 platform could you please create a separate issue. Could you please provide steps to reproduce the problem in a docker container? Regarding openssl3 builds, in our build system we build XRootD with the platform default openssl version, this means that openssl3 is used on Centos Stream 9 (3.0.1-14) and Fedora Rawhide (3.0.0-1).
