more info: so this is the [build log](https://asevcenc.web.cern.ch/asevcenc/alibuild_xrootd542/log) and i noticed this:

ERROR: Cannot uninstall 'xrootd'. It is a distutils installed project and thus we cannot accurately determine which files belong to it which would lead to only a partial uninstall.
```
which is wrong as this should not see the system (or user side) installation ..
