we would most likely break several builds in our user community if one of a sudden we would change this policy, hence I can only beg for your forgiveness for this inconvenience :-)

I can understand, may be you can change this behaviour for next major release :-)

Or would it be feasible to provide an option for requiring such behavior (that would be disabled by default)?
